Joint Bandwidth Allocation and Path Selection in WANs with Path Cardinality Constraints

چکیده

In this paper, we study the joint bandwidth allocation and path selection problem, which is an extension of well-known network utility maximization (NUM) via solving a multi-objective minimization problem under cardinality constraints. Specifically, such formulation captures various types objectives including proportional fairness, average delay, as well load balancing. addition, in order to handle "unsplittable flows", constraints are added, making resulting optimization quite challenging solve due intrinsic non-smoothness nonconvexity. Almost all existing works deal with using relaxation techniques transform it into convex problem. However, provide novel solution framework based on linearized alternating direction method multipliers (LADMM) split original coupling terms several subproblems. We then derive that these subproblems, albeit nonconvex nonsmooth, actually simple easy implement, can be independent interest. Under some mild assumptions, prove any limiting point generated sequence proposed algorithm stationary point. Numerical simulations performed demonstrate advantages our compared base-lines.

Path selection and bandwidth allocation in MPLS networks

Multi-protocol Label Switching extends the IP destination-based routing protocols to provide new and scalable routing capabilities in connectionless networks using relatively simple packet forwarding mechanisms. MPLS networks carry traffic on virtual connections called label switched paths. This paper considers path selection and bandwidth allocation in MPLS networks in order to optimize the ne...

Adaptive filtering with bandwidth constraints in the feedback path

This paper introduces a new, adaptive-filter-based controller that shows advantageous properties from the viewpoint of its communication requirement. The algorithm is called signed-error filtered-x LMS (SE-FxLMS). Its novelty is characterized by the fact that it makes possible data compression in the feedback path of adaptive-filter-based control loops in a very simple way. This feature is espe...

Path diversity and bandwidth allocation for multimedia streaming

The recent advent of widely available broadband Internet access has resulted in an explosive growth of new video streaming applications and research into methods to efficiently support such applications over today’s Internet. Many approaches, including source and channel coding techniques, have been proposed to deal with the delay, loss, and timevarying characteristics of best-effort packet-swi...

On path selection for traffic with bandwidth guarantees

Transmission of multimedia streams imposes a minimum-bandwidth requirementon the path being used to ensureend-to-end Quality-ofService (QoS) guarantees. While any shortest-path algorithm can be used to select a feasible path, additional constraints that limit resource consumption and balance the network load are needed to achieve efficient resource utilization. We present a systematic evaluatio...

Path Selection and Rate Allocation in Self-Backhauled mmWave Networks

Abstract—We investigate the problem of multi-hop scheduling in self-backhauled millimeter wave (mmWave) networks. Owing to the high path loss and blockage of mmWave links, multi-hop paths/routes between the macro base station and the intended users via full-duplex small cells need to be carefully selected. This paper addresses the fundamental question: “how to select the best paths and how to a...
